Piedmont Triad NLM Regional & Piedmont Triad Sectional

February 24-27

January 17, 2022

WHO:  Unit 169 has always been known for its hospitality.  In the past, we have sought our membership's additional support of our tournaments by bringing edibles and other refreshments. This year will be different.

WHAT:  Instead, we are asking for monetary donations.

WHY:  Due to COVID-19, we are taking extreme caution for your health and safety by providing packaged snacks and treats rather than asking you to donate homemade baked goods and treats.

WHEN:  Now!  We are accepting donations in the form of a check payable to "Central Carolina Bridge Association"

WHERE:  Please mail your contribution to the tournament chairman, Cindy Wright, 189 Golden Bear Lane, Clemmons NC 27012 ... or ... you may give your donation to Cindy at any of the face-to-face games in Winston-Salem.  The Unit sincerely thanks you for your generosity.

See you at the bridge table!

Volunteers are needed in other areas throughout the tournament.  If you are willing to help, contact Cindy at 336-407-9842 or crwbridge@yahoo.com

DISTRICT 7 ON-LINE NEWS

TOURNAMENT VACCINATION POLICY

December 24

District 7 is following the ACBL policy of requiring all tournament attendees to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. “Fully vaccinated” means that it has been at least two weeks since you received the second Pfizer or Moderna shot, or since you received a single-dose vaccine. Please do not plan to attend any District 7 regional or sectional unless you can provide proof of vaccination. No exceptions will be allowed. In addition, District 7 encourages, but does not require, each eligible individual to get the booster shot when it becomes available to you.

Any tournament staffed by the ACBL requires masking of players, staff, and volunteers unless community transmission rate is below “substantial” (as determined by the CDC or a similar metric from a health agency) a week before the start date of the tournament. Whether or not masks are required, masking is always recommended. This ACBL policy does not countermand any ordinance or law in effect at the site of the tournament.

THE "TIM STECKER PLAYER OF THE YEAR" AWARD

January 6, 2022

The Unit's Player of the Year Award was renamed the "Tim Stecker Player of the Year Award" in honor of our board member and statistician for the award, Tim, who passed away in June, 2020.  The award was suspended due to COVID preventing in-person bridge, but has now been reinstated now that we are back at the tables!.

The award is based on the number of master points earned at our Saturday Unit Games and at our  tournaments (Piedmont Triad NLM Regional and Open Sectional, Greensboro Sectional and Winston Salem Sectional).  In order to win you have to be a member of Unit 169 and play in at least eight Unit Games.  The person with the most master points at the end of the year wins our Unit’s most prestigious "Tim Stecker Player of the Year Award."
