Starting Wednesdays, Jul 8, 2026

Ever heard about Two-Over-One?  Ever got that dreaded 170 score because you missed bidding a makeable game contract?? As bridge players we want our auction to get us to a game or slam contract whenever possible. This bidding system gives us additional tools to do just that!

What you will learn:

  • Session 1: What is Two-Over-One?

  • Session 2: All about the 1NT Forcing Response

  • Session 3: How the auction continues after two-over-one

  • Session 4: Game or Slam?

This class is designed for players wanting to expand their bidding options and increase their frequency of bidding a 4H, 4S, 3NT or slam. It may also make more bridge partners available to you.

The Longest Day Unit Game always attracts a crowd. Even so, the novice attendance has sometimes lagged. Not this year! There were nine full tables of fresh faces for the first of two games and 39 total participants for the day. Here's a SHOUTOUT to Dian Carr for providing an extra nudge to bridge friends. Get familiar with these players. We will be seeing them at our sectionals and other unit games.

Thank you everyone for a record-setting Alzheimer’s Association fundraiser!

To date, Unit 169 has raised $16,495 for this extremely worthy cause! It’s not too late to make a contribution, but time is running short! Any funds from our unit deposited before July 1 will count toward Unit 169’s fundraising total. In recent years we have been among the top 25 bridge units in the country for Alzheimer’s Association gifts and we very much want to continue that tradition.

Thank you to all the winning Longest Day bidders, and to those of you who made very generous in-kind and cash contributions. A special thanks to the players who donated their time and expertise, our cooks and hostesses who donated their talents, our wonderful crafters and artists, and all our generous contributors.

Of the $16,495 total raised, $5,890 came from the auction and $10,605 from your very generous checks and cash gifts.
